Exciting News: Building and Donating First Ever Hempcrete House in Jamaica!

We have some very exciting news to share with you all! Nature’s Root & Colorado Hemp Project are teaming up with Build Expo Jamaica and Left Hand Hemp this June to build the first ever Hempcrete House in Jamaica! We are donating the materials, Build Expo Jamaica is donating the land, and Left Hand Hemp will be teaching us how to properly make and work with Hempcrete!

The best part?

Once it’s all said and done, the brand new home will be donated to a family in need. We are so grateful and excited for this opportunity. It’s time to show the world how far we’re willing to go in order to promote the power and versatility of this magical plant.

So what exactly is Hempcrete? It’s made from the porous properties of the broken up stalk, also known as Hurd. These fibers are mixed with water and often times another binding agent, and once it’s molded and dried, it creates a flame, mold, and pest-resistant structure as strong as steel. It takes roughly about 2-3 acres of hemp material to make a 1500 square foot Hempcrete house!

We’ll break ground in Montego Bay at the end of June, and will have all kinds of updates and live streams while we’re there! Stay tuned, spread the word, and wish us luck! #oneLOVE
